Proverbs 7:1-5 The Word of God (1) THE WORD OF GOD IS GOD'S
WORD - vs1-4 v1 - My words/My commands v2 - My commands/My law a.) the Word of God is all true -
words and commands is plural and speaks of the OT and NT b.) the Word of God is absolute
truth - it is our standard for our lives, family and society NO AUTHORITY OR RULE IS VALID, SO
EVERY OPINION IS CORRECT AND YUO CAN MAKE UP YOUR OWN RULES AND OBEY ONLY THOSE
YOU FEEL ARE RIGHT FOR YOU -2 Peter 1:21 -Proverbs 7:3 - Since
the Bible is God's word , we must read it. We must treasure and cherish
the Word as we do other things in life....... 1. Reading
the Bible helps us to get to know God better - Exodus 24:1-2 -it tells us what God is like 2. Reading
the Bible helps us discover who we are -our identity and who we are is in
Christ 3. Reading
the Bible helps us to stay in line - Proverbs 7:4 -sister or best friend - they
help you stay in line because you wouldn't do certain things in front of them 4. Reading the
Bible enables us to discover hope -hope is having confidence 5. Reading
the Bible helps us to define morality -tells us what is right and what is
wrong c.) The Word of God is alive -
Proverbs 7:2a -1 Peter 1:23 and Hebrews 4:12 *the Word lives *the Word allows you to live an
awesome life *the Word live means to live forever (2) KEEP MY WORDS - V1 -speaks of standing on the Word of
God/holding tight to it a.) There are things we are to stand
against ***against postmodernism -style is more imporatnt than
substance -what you believe is right, so
you can do anything to achieve your goals -tolerance and validating everyone
elses beliefs b.) There are things we stand for -
to receive the promises of God -God always comes through for us,
but many times we have to stand on the Word to receive His blessings
