PROVERBS CHAPTER 2 (1) WISDOM IS A CHOICE - vs1-5 a.) v1 - we must be RECEPTIVE If - refers to a choice (vs1,5) b.) we must be RESPONSIVE -
vs2-3 cry out - ask for it -THE
PRINCIPLE OF CRYING OUT Isaiah 40:9;Jere 33:3; Ex
2:23-25;Psalm 50:15;1 Samuel 7:9 c.) we must be RESOLUTE - vs4-5 -mining silver and finding buried
treasure is hard work -do not let anything stop you from
finding Jesus and wisdom - Luke 18:1-5 (2) THE SOURCE OF WISDOM - vs6-9 -the source of all knowledge, wisdom
and understanding is in Jesus Christ - Colossians 2:1-3 -v7 - this wisdom is stored up -
means to hide ***you must dig up this wisdom ***the result for digging up
wisdom is stability (sound wsidom - v7) The believer will acquire stability
and a new perspective and understanding in life....... (3) THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF WISDOM -
vs10-22 What will wisdom do for you? vs12 -15 - WISDOM WILL DELIVER YOU
FROM THE EVIL WAY a.)
the evil way can be what people say - v12 - TALK
b.) the evil way can be where people go - vs13-14 - WALK c.)
the evil way can be what people do - vs13,15 - BALK vs16-19 - WISDOM WILL DELIVER YOU
FROM THE IMMORAL WOMAN V16 - It is single because it only
takes one woman EX:Samson & Delilah -
flatter/seduce/flirt v17 - the companion of her youth a.) left her husband b.) left her good childhood training -speaks of ignoring what she knows
to do vs18-19 - her path is the road to
death and loss vs20-22 - WISDOM CAUSES THE BELIEVER
TO RECEIVE THE GOODNESS OF GOD -walk in the ways of goodness - be
saved, foolow Jesus and His word -follow people who are good and
mature and wise - heroes -receive goodness vs20 - 21 - goodness - speaks of the
benefits of God that He gives to His children for free land - represents the promises of
God for His kids dwell - means to live and we will
live a great life on earth v22 - these are people who reject
Jesus -they will not only die, but also be
lost forever -the tree, stump and roots are all
pulled out...
