Revelation 1:12-20 Revelation - means to
uncover;unveil;take the lid off;discover what is hidden a.) this is a Revelation of Jesus
Christ b. Isaiah 6:1-5 & Daniel Chapter
10 John saw the Lord - vs12-17: revelation: response: repentance: vs13-16 - a description of Jesus
Christ - A Revelation of Him (1) Jesus wears a robe and a golden
sash - v13 -these are the same clothes that the
OT High Priest wore -The OT High Priest interceeded for
the sins of Israel *Jesus Christ is our Great Intercessor
- means to stand in the gap for the sins of humanity *Jesus Christ is our only
Intercessor - 1 Timothy 2:4-6 & Isaiah 59:12 Isaiah 59:12-15 - speaks of the sin
of the nation of Israel vs16-17 - who will take care of
these sins - God Himself will vs18-20 - Jesus Christ is coming
back to intervene again in the affairs of man (2) His hair and head are white like
wool -v14 *refers to holiness, purity and
godliness - means to be separate *white - refers to a blazing,
glowing white light 2 things about holiness: a.) Holiness is not sinning - 1
Peter 4:1 - Jesus never sinned one time and is our example to follow b.) Holiness is rejecting what God
rejects *do not accept what God rejects - 1
Samuel 8:4-7, 22 ***We know what God rejects by what
the word of God states............. (3) His eyes are like a flame of
fire - v14 -it speaks of the eyes of the Lord
being like 2 laser beams that penetrate into our hearts, souls and lives -it says "His eyes shoot out
fire" Two Things: 1. God sees and knows everything 2. this represents a righteous
indignation -being able to separate sin from
sinner (4) His feet are like fine brass and
a voice like many waters - v15 brass and waters - speak of God's
judgment feet - speak of walking and moving
everywhere a.) balance - God is a God of
judgment b.) judgment comes from God - so it
will always be fair and right and just c.) judgment will hit everyone -believers - our works - 1 Peter
4:17 -unbelievers - our sins d.) judgment will be seen and heard
- a voice like the sound of many waters (5) Out of His mouth is a sharp
2-edged sword - v16 -this is the word of God -God's word always comes to pass no
matter how long it takes (6) His countenance is like the sun
- v16 -this represents the presence and
glory of God -all believers must also get their
face saved v16 - 7 stars - could be literal
angels or the Pastors of the 7 churches -angel - means messenger v17 - do not be afraid - means
terrified;scared;tormented v18 - Behold - speaks of getting
someone's attention -Jesus Christ is alive v19 - an outline of the book of
Revelation chapter 1 - the past chapters 2-3 - present chapters 4-22 - the future v20 - angel - means messenger
-churches - means a called out group of people

local church each person is called to
