PROVERBS 3:1-8 Divine Design (1) Divine Life - vs1-2 -remember the Lord and His word a.) do not forget my teaching - v1 My teaching - it is God's word and
He wrote it Teaching speaks of 2 things: 1. to throw and distribute - this is
speaking the word 2. it speaks of doctrine -know the Lord so decisions are not
made by feelings & opinions forget - means to disregard or
ignore -the word is known, but not
practiced do not -means do not even go there keep - means to guard and watch over commandments - means the principles
and precepts found in the word of God ***IF WE PRACTICE VERSE 1, WE WILL
RECEIVE VERSE 2 v2 - long life - means years of
lives -extra years on earth and eternal
life to come -length of
days - this is the blessing of accomplishing more for the Lord -peace
- speaks of harmonious relationships in the family;being blessed
financially;receiving rewards and wages (2) DIVINE FAVOR - vs3-4 v3 kindness - mercy - means
compassion -speaks of loving the word of God truth -
means firmness; faithful -speaks of God's word that can never
be broken/will never let us down and always works -tie it around your neck and place
it in your heart - get into it and it will always stay with you ***IF WE PRACTICE VERSE 3, WE WILL
RECEIVE VERSE 4 v4 -favor comes from God through
people favor - means gracious kindness; to
receive the attention and respect of another; to receive great benefits and
favors ***the believer will receive great
blessing, favor and preferential treatment from other people (3) DIVINE DIRECTION -vs5-6 Trust Statements: a. ) trusting in the Lord means to
become well acquainted with Him trust - means to cling to;velcro;
glue; lean on heavily acknowledge - means to know Him ***make time for him ***the more you know Him, the more
you trust Him b.) Trust in the Lord at all times -when things are good or bad -Job 13:15 c.) Trusting in the Lord is not
always understanding what's going on all of the time -we simply won;t understand all
things that happen to us here on earth - we must trust -trust with all of your heart - it
means singleness of heart/no doubt or unbelief Lean not on your own
understanding/do not follow your ways -our own thinking will hurt us big
time -find a godly person to help align
your thinking -God will then automatically give
you guidance in every are aof your life (4) DIVINE HEALTH - vs7-8 -a godly life and good health are
tied together v7 - do not think yuo are all that -
break a spirit of pride -highly respect
the Lord/reverence Him -refuse to do
wrong *depart - speaks of two things: 1. turn
away - when tempted do not give in to it 2. turn off
- if you are doing something wrong, stop it v8 - health to our navel - this
speaks of our past -learn - from your past -leave - your past -launch forward - into your future -the
bones or marrow - is physical health
