Proverbs 6:16-19

Things God Does Not Like

2 Statements

(1) God loves everyone - Romans 8:35-38/John 3:16

a.) all people - no matter who they are or what they have done

b.) God created every human being with a purpose

c.) God wants everyone to be saved

(2) We must all separate people from behavior

a.) separate sin from sinner

b.) God loves all people, but does not love all behavior

v16 - 6 things God does not like and the 7th thing is something the Lord really really does not like

1. v17 - PRIDE

Definition of PRIDE:  it is the glorification of man rather then God  (Acts 12:21-23)

*God is the source of all things

*Only God deserves praise and worship

2. vs17,19 - LYING

***A lie is when we believe a lie from the enemy and then declare it***

3. v17 - MURDER

-life is precious and to be honored

-murder - is cold, calculated, premeditated, deliberate and an intentional act

-one of the 10 commandments

a.) this does not refer to war

b.) this does not refer to capital punsihment

c.) this does no trefer to defending yourself

d. this does not refer to hunting

-1 John 3:15 - one of the things this refers to is racial hatred

4. v18 - A HEART THAT DEVICES WICKED PLANS

-this is speaking about being deceitful

-it is the H-word

Hypocrisy - means to pretend;playing the part of an actor;saying one thing and living another thing;looking good on the outside , but being stained on the inside

What to do about hypocrisy...........

Do not dismiss it, fix it....................

Dismiss - we are only human; we're not perfect

Fix it - be vulnerable/come to the Lord

1 Peter 2:1-4

5. V19 -  SOWING DISCORD OR DIVISION -

***THE FLESH AND THE ENEMY ARE TWO SOURCES OF DIVISION

3 ways to sow discord:

a.) saying anything negative about church leadership

b.) saying anything negative about another Christian

c.) saying anything negative about another Christian ministry, church or organization
