Proverbs 10:8-23

WORDS

1.) Believe and Receive WORDS of instruction - vs8,13,17

a.) Believe and receive from the Lord

BELIEVE

believe - means a commitment; to have total faith in; it's a knowing

***TO RECEIVE YOU MUST BELIEVE***

-He is the God of the "I WILLS"

RECEIVE

receive - means to seize and then you win

b.) Believe and Receive from people - vs8,17

***2 Kings 5 - Naaman and Gehazi - wise vs foolish.........

2.) WORDS PRODUCE LIFE OR DEATH  - v11

*SPEAK LIFE

*CHANGE OUR WORDS

a.) TO CHANGE OUR WORDS, WE MUST CHANGE OUR LIVES

wells

-a pure and clean well

-a dirty well

-a polluted well

***a dirty well - this is being an unbeliever - John 4 -believing and receiving Jesus Christ changes your words

***a polluted well

-because of bad and toxic run off

b.) TO CHANGE OUR WORDS, WE MAY HAVE TO CHANGE WHO WE HANG OUT WITH -communion vs connection

c.) TO CHANGE OUR WORDS, CHANGE OUR THOUGHTS -guard what you watch -pull down all wrong thoughts immediately -only speak great words and ask for forgiveness immediately when you don't

d.) TO CHANGE OUR WORDS, CHANGE YOUR ENVIRONMENT -leave/change the channel/stand against wrong words

3.) THE LESS WORDS THE BETTER vs12,18-21

-the more we say, usually the worse it gets

-when we talk, let it be wisdom - EX: last words

WHEN WE SPEAK:

a.) our words should cover - v12

-cover - means not to tell anyone except your spouse, God and the person you need to deal with

-EX;  Noah and his sons

-slander - v18 - means to hurt and injure someone's reputation *this is nice, but behind the back

v21 - feed people excellent words............

b.) our words should be creative - vs19-20

-let your words be worth something - v20

a.) words can create an atmosphere for God to move

b.) words can create a new person

-by telling them how special they are
