The 7-Fold Expression of the Holy Spirit

***The Spirit of the Fear of the Lord - Isaiah 11:2***

 

3 Statements:

 

(1) the 7-fold expressions of the Holy Spirit are for all believers - Acts 10:34

-respecter of persons - show partiality - means to receive one's face

 

 

 

(2) all believers possess all 7 expressions of the Holy Spirit - 1 Cor 3:16

 

(3) an increase of these 7 expressions comes from times of intimacy with God - Matthew 7:7-8

 

 

Definition:  The fear of the Lord is a great respect, awe, reverence and wonder for a powerful, gracious, and awesome God.  It is a Spirit of Holy reverence...

 

The Early Church

***the fear of the Lord was the #1 characteristic of the early church

-Acts 2:43;5:5,11;9:31;10:34-35;13:16

 

-this brought an outpouring of the Holy Spirit

 

 

 

(1) THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS REDEMPTION - Acts 10:34-35

 

-to be saved, we must realize we have sinned and will be judged by God for our sins

 

-the doctrine of lostology

 

a.) we try to get lost at times

 

b.) our journey though starts lost

 

c.) many people are unaware that they are lost

-confess - Romans 10:9-10 - to say the same thing God says about sin

 

 

 

 

(2) THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS REALIZING THE GREATNESS OF GOD - Psalm 31:19;48:1-2;86:10

 

-realizing His greatness in creation

 

 

 

(3) THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS MAKING THE LORD #1 IN OUR LIVES - Psalm 86:6-14

 

-this has to do with devotion - means to give yourself entirely and completely to something or someone

 

-we must be broken when it comes to devotion that interferes with Jesus Christ being #1 in our lives

 

 

To Make the Lord #1, we must:

 

a.) realize that He exists - Hebrews 11:6

-I AM - He is a God of the present, the righ now, He is present tense

 

b.) realize that He is holy - Psalm 97:9 & 99:1-3

-holy means separate; set apart;different;perfectly clean and pure

 

 

(4) THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS HATING EVIL - Prov 8:13

-Proverbs 3:7-8

 

hate - means to detest/ n ot to tolerate

 

evil - means anything wicked and sinful

 

What is sinful?  whatever God says is sinful

 

Where do we find out what He says is sinful?  In His word
