Psalm 23

v1 - the Lord is my Shepherd

The Lord - is Jehovah

a.) speaks of a Covenant keeping God

-He keeps His word

b.) speaks of God being the Eternal

-He has always been

-He will never change

c.) speaks of realtionships to people

My Shepherd refers to 3 things:

-the Shepherd is Deity - Jehovah and Jesus are equal - John 10:11,14

-the Shepherd is Jesus Christ

***let's not be a personality driven ministry or be involved with celebrity worship

-the Shepherd is the only way to heaven - John 10:1-10

***the Shepherd is also the Door

I SHALL NOT WANT

***there are 2 meanings for this term:

MEANING #!

- it means to be totally content and satisfied with Jesus Christ

-we do not need anything more or else

-David left the sentence incomplete so we can fill in the blank_________________________...

STUFF:

(1) Stuff is not treasure - Matthew 6:19-21

-invest in eternal things

(2) Stuff cannot be taken with you - 1 Timothy 6:6-19

(3) Stuff does not belong to us - Psalm 24:1

-it all comes from God

-it all belongs to God

(4) Stuff will not last or make me happy - Psalm 144:15

MEANING #2

Jesus Christ is My Provider

Remember 3 things about Provision:

Stare - keep your eyes on Jesus

Sow - give

Simplify - live simply/say no to a lot of stuff/live within your means
