Ephesians 6:1-4 - HONOR
 
Honor - means to attach high importance, value and worth to something; to highly respect; it is a priority in life
 
 
Who are we to honor?
 
(1) The Lord - Proverbs 3:9-10
 
-because of who He is
-because of what He has done for us
-because He is the most important Person in our lives - He is #1.......
 
-these verses speak of giving - our tithe
 
-giving to the Lord is a part of God's financial plan for all Christian families
 
 
a.) we give to the Lord
b.) giving is finances
c.) giving is first - it's a test
 
 
 
 
(2) The King - 1 Peter 2:17
 
-the king at this time was the emperor Nero
-honor thier position and not the person
 
Two ways to honor the King (political figures/judicial/governmental authorities
 
 
a.) in our speech - Titus 2:7-8
Ex:  Daniel Chapter 3
 
 
b.) in our behavior - 1 Peter 2:11-16
-we need to change our conduct or change our name
 
 
 
(3) Honor Pastors - 1 Timoth 5:17
 
-Double honor
 
 
 
DOUBLE RESPECT
-in what a person says
-in stopping what another person says
 
DOUBLE PRAYER
-general prayer
-fervent prayer
 
 
DOUBLE PRAISE
-for what they have done
-for what they have been blessed with
 
 
 
 
(4) Honor your Parents - Ephesians 6:1-4
 
2 Timothy 3:1-8 - disobedient to parents - we are fighting a spirit
 
v1 - always do what is right
-even when everyone else does wrong
-as long as you are under their roof
-as long as they are following the word of God
 
 
vs2-3 - this is one of the 10 commandments - #5
-parents are a mom and a dad
-we are to honor parents and that is all that is stated
 
v4 - for parents to be honored they must be honorable
 
 
PROMISE
-it will be well with you - Prov 30:11-12,17
 
-you will live more years on earth - Dt 5:16
