5:18-33
Paul Compares Marriage to Jesus Christ and the
Church.............(v32)
***the husband is compared to Jesus
Christ
***the wife is compared to the
church
Husbands
v25 - HUSBANDS LOVE YOUR WIVES
agape - an unconditional love from God
a.) agape love never stops - God never quits loving
us
b.) agape love is an aggressive love
Loving your wife is a command from God in this
verse...
a.) it is not a feeling or an emotion
b.) it is not based on performance
c.) it is not based on looks
d.) it is the right thing to do
-ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING EVEN WHEN SOMEONE DOES
THE WRONG THING
V26 - through Jesus Christ's love and grace, we are
saved, protected, secure and provided for
-I would never leave Jesus....
v27 - the spots and wrinkles in our marriages will
disappear through love
***love erases all past mistakes
***love discusses and prays through all issues
immediately
***love covers all weaknesses
vs28-30 - when our bodies have needs, we meet
them
-v30 - when the church body has needs,
Jesus meets them
-husbands must meet the needs of their
wives
v31 - leave your parents
-leave - means to abandon completely; leave
behind
-join - means to superglue together
vs32-33,22-24 - wives are to submit to and respect
their husbands
submit - means to arrange under his covering;to
bring into order
respect - means to honor and highly regard and
respect
Submission:
-is mutual submission
-is following God's will totally
***anything that is against the word of God
does not have to be followed
