Fruit of the Holy Spirit

Galatians 5:22-23

1.) To acquire the fruit of the Holy Spirit, a person must be saved - Galatians 5:1

-God grows the fruit of the Spirit in us as we abide in Him

2.) All believers need the fruit and the gifts operating in their lives - 1 Corinthians 12:8-11

-we need to have both operating in our lives

-the last on eon the list is just as important as the first one on the list - 1 Cor 12:10 & Galatians 5:23

3.) You know the false from the true by their fruit - Matthew 7:15-23

-be a fruit inspector

4.) There is only one fruit - 1 Corinthians 13:4-13

-the qualities or manifestations of love are patience, kindness, self control etc..

-there is one fruit - singular in the Greek language - it is LOVE...

5.) Fruit is cultivated - Gal 5:16 & Phil 2:12-13

-just like land is cultivated for fruit and plants to grow - we must work out our salvation for growth to occur

-the gifts are received with no effort or work

-to develop and cultivate fruit, it is:

                 a. a choice

                 b. one's personal responsibility

                 c. drawing close to Jesus

KINDNESS

definition:  goodness in action; sweetness of disposition; gentleness in dealing with others

(1) Our example of Kindnes is Jesus Christ - Luke 6:35

-Jesus is our pattern; one to imitate or copy

(2) Kindness can be cultivated in our lives - Ephesians 4:32

-Be - means to become

KINDNESS IS FULL OF COMPASSION

-the Samaritan "SAW" the wounded man

KINDNESS TAKES ACTION

-kindness is an action word

KINDNESS IS POWERFUL

-It gives people hope, encouragement, strength and a future to look forward to
