The Anointing of the
Holy Spirit 1.) The definition of the Holy
Spirit - means to smear, rub and paint with oil 2.) What is the anointing? ***the anointing of the Holy Spirit
is the presence of the Lord - Acts 10:38 ***it is the touch of God on people a.) the presence of the Lord directs
or diverts one's attention completely on to Jesus Christ b.) the presence of the Lord - the
anointing - is from Jesus Christ - Psalm 23 You anoint my head with oil
a.) for healing - physically and relationally
b.) James 5:13-15 Results from the anointing: -overflow - -something beneficial is always
involved in our lives -total satisfaction 3.) Personal Practical and Corporate
Anointings a.) Personal - John 14:7 & 1
John 2:20,27 ******* it is conviction of the
Holy Spirit *******it is knowing the difference
between the true and the false b.) Practical - Luke 4:18 &
Isaiah 61:1 -this is for Christian service - to
do something... ***We need the anointing to do
something: for the Lord to do something
for the believer to do something c.) Corporate -Acts 1:9-15;Acts 2:1-4;2 Chronicles
5:13-14 -there are some things that will
only occur in a corporate anointing -What ingredients are necessary for
a corporate anointing to manifest: a.) a spirit of praise - 2 Chr 5 -everyone involved -How well we praise depends upon how
well we know the One we praise -Praise reveals on the outside what
is happening on the inside b.) Prayer
- Acts 1:14 -place -there is a place to gather together
and pray c.) Oneness
- 2 Chr 5:13; Acts 2:1 d.)
Expectation - Acts 1:4-5,13
4.) The anointing of the Holy Spirit
can rest upon an imperfect vessel - Judges 14:5-6 -you can run on vapors for awhile -an anointing is no indication of
Christian character
