The Gifts of the Holy
Spirit 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 v4 - gifts - means a spiritual
endowment (the nine spirituals) -the Greek word is charisma
(charismatic comes from this word) The gifts can be classified into 3
groups: (1) the gifts of revelation - those
that reveal something (2) gifts of power - those that do
something (3) gifts of utterance or
inspiration - those that say something STATEMENTS:
1. do not be ignorant about the spirituals - 1 Corinthians 12;1 - means a lack
of knowledge, education or information -1 Thess 5:20 - means do not treat
the gifts with contempt -1 Cor 14:1,39 - desire the gifts -Hebrews 13:8 - the gifts are for
today
2. the Holy Spirit gives the spirituals - 1 Corinthians 12:11 -no one possesses the gifts -the Holy Spirit dtermines who
receives the gifts and when they are used - Heb 2:4 & Jeremiah 1:5 -gifts are confirmed by the
leadership - 1 Tim 4:14 -the Holy Spirit always points to
Jesus
3. The gifts are not an indicator of holiness - 1 Cor 3:1-3/Gal 5;16/Eph
5:18-21 -the only prerequsite to be used in
the gifts is to be saved and baptized in the Holy Spirit
4. The gifts are always to operate in love - 1 Cor 13:1-13 One great characteristic of LOVE: -you can love someone, help them and
bless them knowing they can never offer you anything in return....... DISCERNMENT OF SPIRITS - 1
Corinthians 12:8-11 definition - it is the supernatural
ability to identify the nature, activity and character of spirits - seen and
unseen - whether good or bad. 4 Main Areas where this gift
(spiritual) is used: 1.) in the demonic area - Acts
16:16-18/Matt 16:21-23 -this helps us determine if there is
a demonic presence or is it the flesh -NOT EVERYTHING IS A
DEMON.................. 2.) This gift allows you to discern
the spirit of a person - John 2:23-25 -this is not the ability to read
minds, find fault in people 3.) Angelic deception - 2 Cor 11:3-4,
13-15/Galatians 1:6/Rev 12:3-4,9 -there are Gods' angels and fallen
angels -GODS' ANGELS WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO
WORSHIP THEM - Revelation 19:10 ***Luke 4:6-8 - satan wants worship
- 2 Thess 2:1-4 4. The Holy Spirit - SActs 13:4-12 -x-ray vision
